Investing in Change: Mission-based Investing - Canadian Council for International Cooperation www.ccic.ca
Mission-based investing (MBI) is the incorporation of an institution's mission into its investment decision-making process. By using investment as a form of leverage, NGOs, foundations, endowments and others in the voluntary sector can use MBI to advance an agenda of progressive social change.
To support its members, foundations, and others in the voluntary sector in exploring mission-based investing, the Canadian Council for International Co-operation has developed a handbook and related workshop on MBI.
Shareholder Advocacy Handbook
Produced with financial assistance from the Atkinson Foundation, the Handbook is a complete guide to investors interested in using their influence to have corporations disclose or improve their social and environmental performance. The Handbook explains the processes involved in developing proxy voting guidelines, corporate dialogue, shareholder proposals and divestment.
