Retail Venture Capital Funds
Another
way that investors can make socially responsible
investments (SRI) is through selected retail venture capital funds. These are funds that provide
federal and provincial tax credits to investors
purchasing shares in funds that make venture capital investments.
These funds invest in private companies in the startup
or expansion phase.
Socially responsible retail venture funds invest in sustainable cleantech companies, or companies with good performance on employment, community, supplier or customer-relations issues.

These fund companies are members of the SIO. Through
their membership in the SIO, these funds help to advance
the agenda of the socially responsible investment
movement, help to educate the public on social investing
and contribute to the policy and advocacy work of the SIO.
