Kairos,
the Canadian church coalition on corporate responsibility, is asking
shareholders in Talisman Energy to support its challenge of the
company's record and complicity in the war in Sudan.
The
next annual meeting of Talisman Energy will be held on May 1, 2002.
Kairos, which includes the former Taskforce on the Churches and
Corporate Responsibility (TCCR), is asking shareholders to support
action at the meeting "challenging the company's record and
complicity in the ongoing tragedy of the Sudan."
In
the past, TCCR has coordinated shareholder proposals with the
company calling on the company to issue independently verified
reports on its activities in the war-torn country.
In
a shareholder action alert issued March 22, Kairos asks for
shareholders to provide it with proxies for participation at the the
annual meeting. The proxies will enable Kairos to "coordinate a
church-based shareholder voice to speak publicly at Talisman's
annual meeting."

Canada website.
