Real
Assets Investment Management has merged with United Investment
Counsel, a BC-based institutional investment management company
closely associated with the labour community.
The
new company will continue under the Real Assets name, providing
products and services for individuals, charitable foundations,
pension funds and trusts and the national trade union market. It
will enable Real Assets to reach the national union community
through its affiliation with Working Enterprises.
Real
Assets was launched in 2000 by Vancouver City Savings Credit Union (VanCity)
and Renewal Partners, a Vancouver seed capital firm that focuses on
social impact business ventures. The Working Enterprises Group of
Companies, which includes United Investment Counsel, is a BC-based
company owned by the Canadian labour community.
The
merger, announced Feb. 12, “will
combine Real Assets’ reputation and innovative products with
Working Enterprises’ national trade union market and access to
VanCity’s reputation,” said Real Assets founder and President,
Deb Abbey.
